Celebrating Our Physician Assistants During PA Week

Recognizing Our Trusted Clinicians

Each October, National Physician Assistant Week gives us a chance to shine a light on the trusted clinicians who make high-quality, compassionate care possible — right here at home.

At Concho County Hospital and Concho Medical Clinic, we’re proud to recognize the dedication and service of Steven Alexander, PA-C, and Michael Ross, PA-C — two exceptional healthcare professionals who bring decades of experience and heart to hometown care.

“PAs are often the first face our patients see,” said Bob Pascasio, CEO at Concho County Hospital District. “Steven and Michael bring not only deep clinical knowledge, but also the ability to connect with people — and that makes all the difference. Their commitment is part of what makes ‘Caring for Life’ more than just a slogan.”

Steven Alexander, PA-C

Getting to Know His Patients — and Their Stories

Steven Alexander has served as a physician assistant for nearly 50 years, with most of his career spent in rural clinics across Texas. For the past three and a half years, he’s been caring for patients in the Concho County area — and building the kind of relationships that only a small-town practice can offer.

“Family practice allows me to truly get to know people,” said Alexander. “That’s the best part of the job.”

Originally from Waco, Steven served two years in the U.S. Army before completing his Physician Assistant training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He also holds a degree in Physiological Psychology from Texas Tech University.

He currently works alongside Dr. Brett Nile, M.D., and lives in Christoval with his wife. They enjoy traveling — most recently to Arizona — and cheering on Texas Tech football. Their children live across Texas and even as far as the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

Michael Ross, PA-C

Bringing Decades of Experience Back to Concho County

Michael Ross first joined the Concho County healthcare team in 2014 — and after a few years away, he’s back and making a big impact.

“I’m glad to be back and help this community,” said Ross. “There’s something special about rural medicine. You really get to know the people you’re caring for.”

Born and raised in Big Spring, Michael trained at Howard College, Texas Tech, and the Stanford School of Medicine NP/PA Program. He brings over 30 years of experience in both major medical centers and small rural hospitals, covering nearly every area of medicine.

He lives in San Angelo with his wife of 20 years, Kris, and their young son, Luke. The Ross family loves to travel — from the Caribbean to Mexico to every corner of the U.S. — and are passionate college sports fans.
