Established in 1961 as a County Hospital District, Concho County Hospital is a 16-bed hospital and is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH).
Position Summary
Concho County Hospital is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or an experienced Laboratory Assistant to support daily clinical laboratory operations. The selected candidate must complete laboratory training, work at least one full day each week, and participate in on-call coverage as needed. Phlebotomy skills are required.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Process, label, and prepare specimens.
• Perform testing within competency (MLT).
• Assist in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Blood Bank.
• Maintain QC, records, equipment, and inventory.
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with staff and patients.
• Cross-train in all laboratory areas.
• Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
• MLT certification (ASCP/AMT) preferred OR previous experience as a Laboratory Assistant.
• Phlebotomy skills are required.
• Associate’s degree or Higher
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-year minimum experience required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Schedule
• Part-time position.
• Complete initial laboratory training.
• Work at least one full day each week.
• Take on-call assignments as needed.
• Additional hours available based on department needs.
