Established in 1961 as a County Hospital District, Concho County Hospital is a 16-bed hospital and is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH).
Position Summary
Concho County Hospital is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support daily operations within the clinical laboratory. The ideal candidate will assist with specimen collection, processing, safety procedures, and workflow organization to ensure timely and accurate results. This is a position that requires on-call flexibility, ideally 4-5 nights a week 5pm-7am and a weekend as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• • Perform and coordinate specimen collection, labeling, and processing.
• • Support testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank areas.
• • Maintain supply inventory and ensure laboratory cleanliness and safety.
• • Assist with quality control, record-keeping, and equipment maintenance.
• • Communicate professionally with patients, nurses, and fellow lab staff.
Qualifications
• • Certified CNA, Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant (State of Texas).
• • Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience (clinical lab experience preferred but not required).
• • High school diploma or equivalent required.
• • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move efficiently within the lab.
